Indianapolis Button Club Minutes October 8, 2011
The Club met at MCL with 15 present. Thanks to Margaret our hostess. She handed out Halloween candy and eyeball bubbles. I tried to read minutes from Sept meeting, Nancy reported about $720 in treasury. She has plenty of cards and sleeves. She will have her surgery on Oct. 13.
I passed out my first edition of the Button Box.
Thanks to Brian and Kevin for planning our trip to Springfield, OH. Pennsylvania House has a fabulous button collection from Grace Porter. They also have many other antiques and artifacts. We then went to Season's Bistro. Good food and a great waitress. A good time was had by all. We then stopped at an antique mall where Carol arranged a button dealer to have lots of buttons to buy.
Brian reported that the IU School of Design and Fashion has a costume collection and also a button collection from Katherine Sage(per Pat W)we may be able to go see sometime next year.
It is time for new officers. Brian appointed Margaret and Pat Ward as the nominating committee. They will have the slate in Nov and we will vote in Dec. Kevin will remain our tour director.
Pat Cooper asked for suggestions of having workshops on Fri and Sat at the State Show. She will have a button craft on Sat. Instead of the cookies, there will be some kind of treat.
Margaret had the Program on Halloween. She told us how it started 2000 yrs ago and all the weird things and superstitions. We showed our Halloween cards. Nancy received 2 rhinestone buttons from Margaret, for winning the glitzy apparel contest.
We ate, had show n tell and the raffle.
Respectively yours,
Barbara,Sec.
